Congratulations to our Gold Star Award Winner Wayne

Wayne, a former Iron Man triathlete living with multiple sclerosis, has showcased incredible determination through his recent therapy with ARC – Exercise Physiologist Jason.

Jason and Wayne took a block-based therapy approach focusing on improving Wayne’s strength, balance, and cardiovascular fitness. Between blocks Wayne was diligent with his home exercise program and managed to lose >10kg in the last 6 months.

Throughout their sessions Wayne discussed a keenness to get back in the ocean as he hadn’t been in the water for over a decade; Mainly due to the difficulties he faced with mobility and accessing the water.

This year, Wayne embraced the opportunity and participated in three beach access days at Collaroy, reigniting his passion for the ocean.

In his final session of the season Wayne achieved an impressive milestone, swimming 500 metres! His journey reflects not only his personal strength but the power of perseverance and consistency.

Awesome work Wayne, looking forward to hitting the 1km mark next season!
