Maureen’s Journey with Parkinson’s

Maureen was diagnosed with Parkinson’s two years ago. Earlier this year, she began her journey with the ARC team. Maureen was unable to attend one of our clinics, so our community physiotherapist, Dominique, started seeing her at home.

During the initial assessment, Dominique recognised that Maureen was fearful of falling and relied heavily on a walking frame to move around her house. Understanding the challenges Maureen faced, Dominique prescribed a personalised exercise program that she could follow at home.

Over the past weeks, Dominique has visited Maureen weekly, providing support and adjusting her exercise regimen as needed. The transformation has been remarkable. Maureen’s walking has improved so much that it has astonished her family, Dominque, and even herself!

Thanks to Maureen’s commitment, she has made incredible progress. She’s now able to walk to her local shops using just a walking stick! Moreover, her balance has improved significantly, with an impressive 12-point increase in her balance assessment in just 10 weeks.

We are incredibly proud of Maureen’s achievements. Her dedication and hard work are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see what she will accomplish next!
