Congratulations to our Gold Star award winner Charlie

Meet Charlie, a remarkable individual who has been bravely navigating life with Huntington’s Disease since his diagnosis in 2014. His journey led him to ARC Clinic in January 2024, seeking support for challenges he faced with walking, cognition, fatigue, dizziness, and reduced strength, among other difficulties.

Before coming to ARC, Charlie had previously seen a musculoskeletal physiotherapist but hadn’t received specialized neurological physiotherapy. However, his determination to reclaim aspects of his life was evident from the start. Charlie committed himself wholeheartedly to his personalized home program, diligently completing it four days a week.

At ARC Clinic, we tailored a comprehensive program to address Charlie’s specific needs. We focused on functional lower limb strength, aerobic training,

balance and vestibular rehabilitation, and exercises involving cognitive dual tasks. As Charlie progressed, we introduced activities suchas basketball drills, balancing on uneven surfaces, allowing him to rediscover joys like playing with his nieces and enjoying outdoor activities.

The results have been truly inspiring! Charlie’s perseverance has paid off, as evidenced by almost 200% improvement in his walking speed and endurance, balance, with increased confidence in navigating busy environments, and smoother, more controlled movements.
