Congratulations to our Gold Star Award Winner Joseph

Joseph suffered a stroke in March 2022 and is left sided affected. He first started therapy at ARC in October 2022 and first presented to the clinic being able to walk assisted with a walking stick for 40 metres in 4 minutes and 32 seconds.

Since October, Joseph has been determined to reach his walking goals. He has attended 2 intensive blocks with the LEXO (2 blocks of 3 sessions a week for 8 weeks) and attended neurogym classes in between. When he first started, he experienced a lot of ankle pain & instability, limiting his ability to walk.

During his LEXO block, he was very proactive with setting some goals such as getting 100% on stance phase (ability to push down on his left leg while walking on the LEXO) for 500 times in one session.

At the end of his second LEXO block, Joseph was able to achieve 500x 100% stance phases three sessions in a row! This is an outstanding outcome on the LEXO. Now, Joseph can walk for 1km outside in the community within 1 hour without experiencing any ankle pain.
