Gold Star Award for Liz

Liz came to ARC in February of 2022 after a prolonged stay in Prince of Wales Hospital following a stroke.

Since her first session at ARC, Liz has been the definition of determination and grit as she worked hard on simultaneous upper limb and lower limb intensive blocks. With a young family, it’s impressive to see Liz turn up each day (after an hour’s commute) with a strong commitment to improve her walking and left arm function.

Last week she managed to lift her arm back into her wheelchair without needing assistance. To top that off, over the weekend Liz managed to stand independently while holding her one year old for the first time!

Liz has also increased her walking speed over the past few months, shaving 3 seconds off her 10 metre walk test!  While the journey has been tough at times, we know there will be many more wins in the future!
