Gold Star Award for Rachael

Congratulations to our Gold Star Award Winner Rachael

Rachael was born with a rare chromosomal condition that brings daily challenges, including muscle weakness, pain, breathing difficulties, fatigue, and difficulty with complex cognitive tasks. Despite this, Rachael has shown incredible determination and courage in working toward her goals.

What stands out most is Rachael’s openness to learning about her body and her willingness to try new strategies to manage her condition. She embraces advice, puts in the effort, and keeps moving forward—even when things are tough.

From the very beginning, Rachael set some truly inspiring goals—building her walking tolerance, returning to work, and increasing her independence with the long-term dream of living independently. Every day can be different for Rachael, and she approaches each one with resilience, patience, and strength.

What stands out most is Rachael’s openness to learning about her body and her willingness to try new strategies to manage her condition. She embraces advice, puts in the effort, and keeps moving forward—even when things are tough.

A huge milestone achievement has been Rachael completing a 5km charity walk with her mother—an incredible accomplishment! She worked up to this by gradually increasing her walking from just 1–2 kilometres on flat ground, making this hilly course an even greater triumph.

Rachael, your perseverance, bravery, and commitment are truly inspiring. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and are excited to see you continue to grow and succeed. Keep shining—you are doing amazing things! 🌟
