Gold Star Award for Jane
Congratulations to our Gold Star Award Winner Jane
Jane has been attending ARC since November 2022, about 5 months after her stroke. Since then, Jane has been working with her Physiotherapist Trang, OT Monique and EP Lisa on goals to return to travelling, being able to independently navigate tricky outdoor environments, regain function in her arm and hand, and returning to work.
Jane comes into the clinic and takes on all the hard work with a smile on her face. She has achieved some incredible things in the last two years. Jane wanted to return to walking outdoors at the park, first she was only able to walk outside when her husband Jeff was also free so she could use his arm as support.
Jane focused on training her walking pattern, balance and endurance in sessions and was able to go for short walks independently. Jane continued

to progress this and started consistently walking 5-6 days per week. She took off with achieving her goals, starting with being able to go to brighten le sands with her kids, to going to the Gold Coast in early February last year.
In May 2023 she walked 3.5km in 1.5 hours, In March 2024, she walked 4.3km in the same time, that’s almost an extra kilometre! Jane has made great functional gains with her arm, now being able to independently reach for a cup. She has achieved active extension in her fingers and is working hard on completing the task and lifting the cup to her mouth.
Jane has booked a holiday for the end of the year and she plans to return to work in June. We are so confident that Jane still has many more achievements ahead and not much can get in her way. Jane you are the queen of consistency!
