Strength Beyond Diagnosis: Celebrating Two World-Class Achievements at ARC

At Advance Rehab Centre, we’re privileged to witness moments that remind us just how powerful the human body and mind can be when supported with the right expertise, environment, and belief.

Recently, two of our clients who train through ARC’s PD Lift program achieved extraordinary milestones on the world stage, competing in the first ever Parkinson’s-specific powerlifting competition the World PD Deadlift Challenge.

Rhonda: Breaking Barriers and World Records

Rhonda has been training at ARC through our Exercise Physiology leg PD Lift program, a program designed to improve strength, power production, and mobility through range. This program implements PD Warrior principals such as high effort and complexity to bring neuroactive exercise into a gym-based setting.

After completing her initial 8-week training block, Rhonda entered the World PD Deadlift Challenge, an online competition run under World Powerlifting Association rules, with competitors from Australia, the US, Europe, and Greece.

In an incredible result, Rhonda broke the world record for her age group, demonstrating not only exceptional physical strength, but unwavering commitment to her training. Her achievement is a powerful testament to what focused, evidence-based exercise can unlock, and an inspiration to others living with Parkinson’s.

Craig: World Champion Strength

Craig, an ARC PD Warrior client and experienced masters powerlifter, also competed in the World PD Deadlift Challenge. Bringing together his external competitive experience and ARC-based neurological training, Craig went on to win the overall title in the competition.

His performance reflects remarkable strength, discipline, and determination and highlights how high-effort, well-structured training can support people with Parkinson’s to continue performing at elite levels.

These achievements represent more than medals or records. They challenge outdated perceptions of Parkinson’s disease and show what’s possible when people are empowered to train with intent, confidence, and the right clinical support.

We’re incredibly proud of Rhonda and Craig, and honoured to be part of their journey.
