LEXO Gait Training in Sydney: Neuro Rehab Improving Walking

Aaryan’s story at Advance Rehab Centre

Improving walking ability is one of the most important—and most challenging—goals in neurological rehabilitation. At Advance Rehab Centre (ARC), we combine expert clinical care with advanced technology to deliver best-practice neuro rehab in Sydney, supporting people with neurological conditions to move with greater independence, confidence, and control.

One of the most powerful tools we use is LEXO, an advanced robotic gait training system designed to optimise walking practice for people with neurological conditions. Aaryan’s journey highlights how LEXO can support meaningful outcomes beyond the clinic.

Meet Aaryan

Aaryan is a 24-year-old living with spastic triplegia (cerebral palsy) who has been attending ARC since 2022 for weekly physiotherapy. He is also an elite international Boccia athlete, travelling globally to compete, with aspirations to reach the Paralympic Games in 2028 or 2032.

Outside of sport, Aaryan is a passionate advocate for disability and inclusion. He has recently graduated university with a degree in psychology and regularly appears as a guest panellist on radio and television, raising awareness for cerebral palsy and adaptive sport.

Watch Aaryan train on the LEXO robotic gait trainer at Advance Rehab Centre. This short reel captures how robotic gait training enables faster, more independent walking while supporting posture, endurance, and movement quality for people with neurological conditions.

Why Aaryan Uses LEXO Gait Training

LEXO plays a key role in Aaryan’s neuro rehabilitation program, enabling him to practise walking in ways that would otherwise be unsafe or limited.

Aaryan uses LEXO to:

  • Experience fast, independent walking
LEXO allows Aaryan to walk at higher speeds with a sense of independence, providing both physical and psychological benefits.
  • Improve gait mechanics
Targeted gait training helps strengthen his stance leg and improve foot clearance—critical for efficient, safer walking.
  • Build cardiovascular fitness
Continuous, higher-intensity walking delivers meaningful cardiovascular benefits that support overall health and athletic performance.
  • Manage spasticity and maintain muscle length
The repetitive walking pattern provides sustained stretching through the calves and hamstrings, supporting spasticity management and flexibility.
  • Enhance posture and trunk control
LEXO promotes upright posture and active trunk engagement, translating to better sitting balance, standing control, and functional stability.

Why LEXO Is Leading Technology in Neuro Rehab

LEXO enables high-repetition, task-specific walking practice, a cornerstone of neuroplasticity and functional recovery. Compared to traditional gait training alone, LEXO allows clinicians to:

  • Increase walking speed and intensity safely
  • Precisely adjust body-weight support and assistance
  • Maintain optimal alignment and posture
  • Deliver longer, more consistent walking sessions

This makes LEXO particularly valuable for people with cerebral palsy, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions.

Aaryan’s story reflects what is possible when advanced rehabilitation technology is paired with expert clinical care. LEXO does not replace therapy—it enhances it, enabling people to train harder, walk better, and move with greater confidence.

At ARC, LEXO gait training is integrated into personalised neurological rehabilitation programs in Sydney, aligned with each person’s goals, abilities, and lifestyle.
