The 2021 ARC Team Value Awards.
ARC’s Team Values Awards – We have the winners!
The Don Stammer Excellence Award
It was Don’s generous Christmas donation that kick-started our idea about having an annual award in his name. The idea then escalated to having four awards, based around each of our core values – Excellence, Innovation, Teamwork and Care. And then even further to have the People’s Choice Award. Don is one of our Parkinson’s clients that’s been having weekly physio sessions with us over the last five years. He’s always appreciative of ARC staff and how valuable his sessions are. The Excellence award is for the person you feel always goes above and beyond with their level of clinical or service expertise. There were more than 20 people nominated for this award, making it hard to whittle down a shortlist!
Winner of the 2021 Don Stammer Excellence Award – Amalie Perera
Amali has consistently provided a high level of care and attention to detail to all her clients. Her knowledge, passion and clinical experience consistently help clients reach their goals and have a more fulfilling life. She demonstrates a skilled and well-researched approach to her clients and is always keen to broaden her knowledge.
The Anne-Maree Neal Innovation Award
Many of you will know Anne-Maree, one of our long-standing MS clients. AnneMaree is someone that has contributed as much to ARC over the years as we have for her. She’s had some dark and challenging times but has always been willing to be involved in patient focus groups, review client documents, have her photo taken, try new things, and she’s always looking out for the other MS ladies and ARC staff too. Anne-Maree couldn’t speak more highly of the expertise, care and compassion of ARC staff and she felt truly honoured when I asked if this award could be in her name. The Innovation award is for the person you feel leads the way with new ideas, new services, thinking outside the box and creativity.
Winner of the 2021 Anne-Maree Neal Innovation Award – Jason King
Jason is someone who continues to build connections to drive undercover rehab dreams. Someone who is extremely passionate and works hard to make their vision a reality, from which so many clients will benefit from. Jason has organised ARC’s first cycle club event – Team Movers and Shakers all crossed the finish line with flying colours. Jason wins this award for the creative, empowering and meaningful ways he engages with his clients.
The Kathryn Briggs Teamwork Award
Kathryn is a definite character at ARC! She had an ABI in 2009 and has been a consistent ARCie since she was discharged from inpatient rehab. Kathryn was initially very much wheelchair dependent. She is now a dead set regular walking into Neuro Gym. She never fails to provide entertainment and an honest opinion. The Teamwork award is for the person you feel truly embraces the motto that “together, we are better than one”.
Winner of the 2021 Kathryn Briggs Teamwork Award – Gina Sinclair
Gina is someone who positively contributes to the ARC family in so many ways. She is an incredible driver of varied and inclusive social events and continually praises and recognises others around her. Gina is a true team player, always looking for new ways to boost team morale and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She has been so creative and adaptable during the lockdown and has kept the close-knit team spirit going. She is a cheerleader for celebrating her teammate’s achievements, milestones and annual holiday events. She brings the team closer together. Well done, Gina!
The Ken Sackville Care Award
Ken sadly passed away in 2019. He was coming to ARC for about five years after his stroke, and it’s fair to say he had quite a battle towards the end of his life. He never lost his sense of humour and loved to chat. He was always sharing his life stories with us as well as his tips for the Melbourne Cup. He never gave up…even if his incentive was the hot chips at the end of the lane at old ARC! The Care award is for the person you feel goes above and beyond with their level of customer service and care and strongly lives by our motto of “we treat our patients as we would our family”.
Winner of the 2021 Ken Sackville Care Award – Lisa Meng
Lisa is an outstanding EP who shows incredible understanding and care to her clients. She consistently goes above and beyond to help her clients – she provides her clients with holistic care, and they are so lucky to have her. I don’t think there is anyone who goes the extra mile more than she does.
The Causley People’s Choice Award
Last year we decided it was time to let the people vote and have their say! And so, the People’s Choice Award came about. We all know how everyone across the whole ARC team has gone above and beyond to try and make life a little easier and more positive for our clients once again this year.
Heather and Ray Causley have been a part of the ARC family for over ten years. Ray suffered a major stroke that left him with right side weakness and speech difficulties. He is such a genuine and down to earth man, with bucket loads of motivation, and Heather has been consistent support by his side throughout. Their partnership has no doubt kept Ray active and mobile, and Heather was so incredibly touched by the honour of this award being dedicated to them.
Winner of the 2021 Causley People’s Choice Award – Jodie Sim
From her nomination: Jodie is a patient, caring, skilled and dedicated EP. She consistently pushes me with good humour and a cheerful personality. She’s an inspiring individual whose empathy and love of her work brings the best out in me and has challenged my life for the better.
