Robert has been through a very tough period health wise and on top of this has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
At his lowest point, Robert spent the day laying in bed or confined to a wheelchair, unable and unwilling to do any activity.
Advance Rehab Centre got involved and together helped him regain his independence and mobility. Its been a long journey but now he is taking some real BIG steps forward!
As is the case with Parkinson’s, medication is essential to control symptoms of the disease and keep him functioning at his best, however specific exercise has helped him reach the goals that he wanted, and now has, acheived! In fact he has smashed them!
Our Exercise Physiologist, Amjad Saleh, has been seeing Robert at his care home working with him on his tailored exercise program. Robert’s goals included for him to stand out of a chair and get out of bed independently, as well as to walk again with some help of the staff at the home.
With Roberts commitment and Amjads support, he is now able to climb up and down stairs, complete 15 stands from a chair and is walking with a 4 wheel walker under supervision.
This is a massive achievement but there is more to go! We want to help him move around independently with a 4 wheel walker so he is free to enjoy a walk whenever he pleases. Thank you Robert for being a fabulous patient.
